Dinner on Mount Olympus3:28

A song. A few new discoveries.

Meet Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Athena, Apollo and the rest of a very lively mythological dinner party. Discover their symbols and roles, then match several Greek gods to their Roman names.

These are stories from mythology. Lists of the twelve Olympians vary; Hestia and Dionysus commonly appear as alternatives. Hades rules the underworld and is not usually counted among the twelve.

Made for curious kids around ages 6–12 and the grown-ups watching with them. Music and animation created with AI tools under Mike Sego’s direction. YouTube’s video description includes the release notes and credits.

Smarty Party! Ladies and gentlemen... and gods! I'm planning dinner on Mount Olympus. Twelve chairs. How hard can it be? Zeus is the king, with the thunder and the sky— He gets the big chair, and the lightning goes by! Hera, the queen, with a peacock at her side; Poseidon brought the ocean—there's a trident and a tide! Demeter grows the harvest, all the wheat and the grain; Athena's wise, with an owl, and a very clever brain. Apollo plays the lyre with the sunshine in his song; Artemis, the hunter, brings the moon along! Twelve gods at the table! Twelve chairs in a row! Pass the ambrosia, please— Whose seat? I don't know! Everybody's got a power, Everybody's got a tale— Dinner on Mount Olympus Is a myth-sized scale! Ares starts a fight about the salad and the bread— He's the god of war, so he's already seeing red! Aphrodite's here for love, and she's shining like a star; Hephaestus forged the forks—careful, still hot, they are! Hermes has the wings on his sandals and his hat— He's the messenger—he's there and back in two seconds flat! Hestia keeps the fire warm, the hearth and home, Dionysus brought the grapes, and a whole play to perform! Twelve gods at the table! Twelve chairs in a row! Pass the ambrosia, please— Whose seat? I don't know! Everybody's got a power, Everybody's got a tale— Dinner on Mount Olympus Is a myth-sized scale! Then the Romans came along and they gave them brand-new names, And you'll find them in the night sky, shining in their frames: Zeus is Jupiter, Poseidon's Neptune, Ares is Mars, Aphrodite's Venus, and Hermes is Mercury—they're in the stars! But wait—that's thirteen! Somebody has to go... Hestia smiles: "I'll tend the fire. Take my seat, it's fine, you know." Then a knock at the door... it's Hades, from downstairs— He's not an Olympian! He brought his own chair! Twelve gods at the table! Twelve chairs in a row! Pass the ambrosia, please— Whose seat? I don't know! Everybody's got a power, Everybody's got a tale— Dinner on Mount Olympus Is a myth-sized scale! Next year... we're ordering pizza. Hermes can deliver. Smarty Party Songs! Like, subscribe, PARTY!
