A song. A few new discoveries.

Compare the Arctic and Antarctica: an ocean surrounded by land versus a continent surrounded by ocean. Meet polar bears, walruses, Arctic foxes, penguins, seals and krill, plus travelers that visit both polar regions.

Polar bears and penguins do not meet in their natural habitats. Not all penguins live in Antarctica; many live in warmer parts of the Southern Hemisphere. The bear in the name Arctic refers to northern constellations.

Made for curious kids around ages 6–12 and the grown-ups watching with them. Music and animation created with AI tools under Mike Sego’s direction. YouTube’s video description includes the release notes and credits.

Smarty Party! I've got a letter from a penguin to a polar bear. Just gotta drop it off. How far could it be? Way up north is the Arctic, An ocean frozen over with the land all around. Polar bear is walking on the sea ice, Walrus with his whiskers and his tusks hanging down. Arctic fox and a snowy owl, Reindeer, musk ox, Arctic hare, Beluga whistles and the narwhal waves— But I can't find a penguin anywhere! Polar opposites! North and south! Ice at the top and the bottom, no doubt! Bears up north and the penguins way down low— They can write each other letters, But they'll never say hello! Way down south is Antarctica, A continent of ice with the ocean all around. Emperor penguins huddle in a blizzard, Adélie, chinstrap, gentoo on the ground. Leopard seal and a Weddell seal, Albatross gliding through the air, Tiny krill by the trillion in the sea— But there isn't any bear down there! Polar opposites! North and south! Ice at the top and the bottom, no doubt! Bears up north and the penguins way down low— They can write each other letters, But they'll never say hello! Here's a secret hiding in the name: "Arctic" means "near the Bear," Named for the Great Bear stars up high. "Antarctic" means "opposite the Bear"— So there's no bear down there, And even the name tells you why! But a few world travelers visit both ends: Orcas swim the cold waters north and south, And the Arctic tern flies pole to pole each year— Hey there, tern! Could you take this letter out? Polar opposites! North and south! Ice at the top and the bottom, no doubt! Bears up north and the penguins way down low— They can write each other letters, But they'll never say hello! They can write each other letters, But they'll never say hello! The polar bear wrote back. "What's a penguin?" Smarty Party Songs! Like, subscribe, PARTY!
