The Pepper Orchestra

The peppers have formed a band. We play the heat; we don’t eat it.

A song. A few new discoveries.

Meet bell peppers, jalapeños, habaneros, ghost peppers, Carolina Reapers and Pepper X in a brassy musical tour of spicy heat. Learn about capsaicin and the Scoville scale while the orchestra gets louder.

Heat varies within a pepper variety, so ranges are more useful than one number. This is a listening and learning song, not a pepper-eating challenge.

Made for curious kids around ages 6–12 and the grown-ups watching with them. Music and animation created with AI tools under Mike Sego’s direction. YouTube’s video description includes the release notes and credits.

Smarty Party! Tonight, the Pepper Orchestra! We play the heat. We don't eat the orchestra. Bell pepper starts at zero, with a gentle little toot, No spicy burn, just sweet crunch, and a very shiny suit. Jalapeño joins the trumpets with a cheeky little flare, Then habanero lifts the roof! There's music in the air! Hotter on the charts, louder in the band, Scoville counts the spicy heat, now clap your hands! We can sing the pepper names and let the trumpets play, Nobody needs a burning mouth to join the band today! Ghost pepper makes an entrance, in a cape and pointy shoes, Carolina Reaper has a very brassy blues. Pepper X takes center stage, the chart goes way up high, The drummer's hat has flown away. It's waving us goodbye! Capsaicin makes the burning feeling that you know, Scoville numbers help describe how strong that heat can go. Peppers of one kind can vary, every crop can change, So we use a chart with room to show a pro-proper range! Hotter on the charts, louder in the band, Scoville counts the spicy heat, now clap your hands! We can sing the pepper names and let the trumpets play, Nobody needs a burning mouth to join the band today! And on the triangle... a cucumber. He just came to chill. Smarty Party Songs!
